Women and Gender in Media

The #MeToo movement is a classic example of social media done correctly. When harnessed to its rightful potential, the power of social media can help usher gender inequality into the forefront of society’s consciousness. Therefore, it is important to understand gender comparison in relation to social media use as well as the risk faced by women when using various social media platforms. Studies have shown that women are more prone to receive online bashing, below-the-belt criticisms, and personal attacks than men. How can we prevent this from happening
Expanding the role of women in social media is an important step to make before we move forward to achieving real gender equality. Aside from discussing women’s role in social media, there is also the question of how social media users treat those belonging to the other genders such as transgender, genderqueer, cisgender, agender, bigender, intersex, and so on.
